Globz

This is now my current favorite online game. Each game is different, so you will have to figure out the rules yourself. You play against other online opponents, which always adds to the fun. I tried the tic-tac-toe game, and had a blast. The basic object is to get your little dude with the moustache into a square to mark it as your own. Two problems. Problem one is that you can’t actually move the dude with the moustache. You have to bounce one of your other three players around to hit him into position. Problem two is that your opponent is doing the same thing, so you have to keep his moustache guy in check!

Microsoft Photosynth

Photosynth takes a large collection of photos of a place or object, analyzes them for similarities, and displays them in a reconstructed 3-Dimensional space.

Photosynth is like an autostich program on steroids.

The mother said she appreciated the surprise birthday visit, but denied any negligence. (A judge refused to toss out the lawsuit in July.) Engineering Quiz

A backhoe weighing 8 tons is on top of a flatbed trailer and heading east on Interstate 70 near Hays, Kansas . The extended shovel arm is made of hardened refined steel and the approaching overpass is made of commercial-grade concrete, reinforced with 1 1/2 inch steel rebar spaced at
6 inch intervals in a crisscross pattern layered at 1 foot vertical spacing.

Solve: When the shovel arm hits the overpass, how fast do you have to be going to slice the bridge in half? ( Assume no effect for headwind and no braking by the driver…)

Extra Credit: Solve for the time and distance required for the entire rig to come to a complete stop after hitting the overpass at the speed calculated above.

    Bad Floyd, bad!

LONDON - Tour de France champion Floyd Landis tested positive for high levels of testosterone during the race, his Phonak team said Thursday on its Web site, raising questions about his victory.

The Swiss-based Phonak team said it was notified by the UCI on Wednesday that Landis’ sample showed “an unusual level of testosterone/epitestosterone” when he was tested after stage 17 of the race last Thursday.

Landis made a remarkable comeback in that Alpine stage, racing far ahead of the field for a solo win that moved him from 11th to third in the overall standings. He regained the leader’s yellow jersey two days later
