Knitta

Knitta began in August 2005, when AKrylik and PolyCotN were discussing their frustration over unfinished knitting projects: half-knitted sweaters and balls of yarn gathering dust. That afternoon, they knitted their first doorknob cozy. Then it dawned on them… A tag crew of knitters, bombing the inner city with vibrant, stitched works of art, wrapped around everything from beer bottles on easy nights to public monuments and utility poles on more ambitious outings. With a mix of clandestine moves and gangsta rap — Knitta was born! Today, Knitta is a group of more than 10 ladies of all ages, races, nationalities, religions, sexual orientation… and gender.

I have an affinity for guerilla art, and site like The Wooster collective always tickle my soul. Knitta takes it to the next level. I hope that Knitta grows strong and powerful!

Friends of the Platypus

There is a small but very loyal group of regular visitors to the Militantplatypus. This group helps drive and shape the site with their feedback and comments. I have been racking my brain, trying to figure out a way to reward all of you.

And I think I have come up with something: The bonus post.

Each day, I will make one post available to only those who have joined the Militantplatypus. In the future there will be contest (with real prizes) that will be available to registered members only. Registration is easy; it can be done quickly on the sidebar. You will not be spammed, and your email address (if you happen to give me a real one) will not be sold, spindled, mutilated, or used in any way. If you choose not to register, you will still get the same content here at the Militantplatypus, minus one!

Passclicks

Passclicks is a new way to login to websites without users having to remember thir old style textual password.
Studies have revealed that humans are way better in remembering visual things than textual things.
With passclicks your normal textual passwords are replaced with a sequence of clicks on an image.

The site gives you a great demo on how the system works. I haven’t had a chance to really dig into their code to see what information is being passed, but it is a really cool idea.

    Distronic Plus by Mercedes

Personally, I like to drive a car. I don’t even really like automatics. But there are plenty of people out there doing a lot of things other than driving while in the car, so this would easy my mind a bit. The Distronic system uses a form of radar to measure the distance between you and the car in front of you, and adjusts the cruise control to the distance, instead of the speed.
