Fuel cell for your mobile phone.
November 9, 2005 Motorola has made a strategic investment in North American micro fuel cell developer Tekion with a view to the inevitable rise of the fuel cell as a power source for mobile products. Tekion is driven by the mission to take mobile devices “off the grid”. By integrating advanced battery technology with micro fuel cell technology, Tekion is creating a new “personal power source”, known as the Formira Power Pack, that will fit inside mobile products and enable consumers to stay connected for as long as needed. Tekion’s technology provides a competitive advantage for portable electronic products in the power range of milliwatts to 50 watts and energy range of 10 to 100 watt-hours. Several products and markets fall within these power and energy levels including: industrial handheld computers, satellite communication devices, notebook PCs, and other mobile products.

I have seen various versions of this device before, but this has to be the slickest so far. Now you can quickly and easily backup your cellphone to a computer. In addition to that, you can also add and edit your contact list. A little on the pricey side ($39.99), but still a good deal if you value your contacts.

At 14mm thick, this is a truely thin slider. And with 512mb of onboard memory, it will also be a usefull device. Now, only if it shows up in the US…

The trouble with most camera-phone implementations is that you tend to end up with a half-version of one, or the other (or both). Although the puppy isn’t going to be the slimest device out there, it looks to be a good combination, and without compromise.

Everytime I think I have my next cellphone picked out, wham they go and pull something like this. Hopefully, for my sake, they will price it out of reach for me, or at the very least not release it in the US.
