Kerry Comment
I usually avoid politics like the plague, but this one I found interesting.
Kerry was quoted making a comment that seems to demean out troops.

If you are like me, you didn’t pay much attention to the whole thing, and just assumed that Kerry was being stupid. Problem is, the quote was taken out of context. When put back into context, an entirely new meaning and target is revealed.
Figure 5

This is a great article by Jason Rader on copyright infringement. Recently, Google changed their logo (as they do) in a tribute to Jason Miro ( You can see the logo here). Representatives of Miro’s estate complained, and demanded that Google take the logo down, claiming copyright infringement. So, Jason Rader is doing a little test of his own.

Bitch and Moan

Slashdot recently posted an article with the following:
I would like to congratulate godaddy.com on their fantastic new parked domain name “turbocow.com”.
In order to test the trustworthyness of a potential new web host for my site I put that domain name in my shopping cart then cancelled the order. The next day I went back and the domain name was parked.
So, congratulation to godaddy on their fantastic new parked domain name and the loss of a potential customer.
What they left out, is that they did not run a whois, to find out who domain parked the name. I will admit, that if Godaddy did pull a stunt like this, that I would be tempted to leave them. But, the whois reveals that it was parked by in2Net.com - NOT Godaddy.
There are a lot of shady companies out there, and I am not a fan of everything that Godaddy does (like the stupid sexist comercials it produces). But my personal experience with them has been professional, and they have done a more than adequate job of serving my needs - especially when you consider I am only paying them $10 a year.
So, before you go spouting off, make sure you know what the hell you are talking about!

Stupid, Stupid Movie

Mike said it best, so I will leave it to him.
I reported September 17 that the next James Bond movie, Casino Royale, will contain NO GADGETS. Apparently that’s not repulsive enough for the producers, so now they’ve announced that, although the Bond Girls will be fully dressed, Daniel Craig, who will play Bond, will get NAKED. And the piece de resistance: Instead of driving only a pimped out Aston Martin, Bond will also drive a FORD! Why would the studio commit such an act of violence against the Bond legacy? Why else? Ford is paying them $24 million to include the car. It’s just as well, as Craig only knows how to drive an automatic transmission anyway. (No wonder Bond fans are organizing a BOYCOTT.)
OKCounter

I had been using a free service from Okcounter for a couple of years now to display my hit statistics. They would blink on and off randomly, but they would always come back. I didn’t mind too much because I wasn’t paying anything for the service, other than advertising for them.
Well, the counter has been gone for almost a week now, so I decided to investigate. The okcounter website has changed dramatically, leading me to believe it is under new ownership. Little information can be discerned since it now seem to be a Korean(?) company, and the English translation is horrible at best.

New service opend !!!
In addition to the cryptic updates, all of my login information has disappeared. They suddenly have no record of my user id, my email address, or my login information. I am just out.
So now the big question is, do I re-signup, knowing full well in advance that pain and confusion are in the near future, or do I go find someone new? Any suggestions on simple pageview/total hit counters that are free?
Yahoo!
Ya know what’s funny…I have been using del.icio.us for a while now, and I have never had any issues at all with it. A day after Yahoo! takes it over, I start seeing database errors, and now it says it will be down for an hour for maintainance. It said that at 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm 4:00pm…
The Ultimate War Simulation Game

A humorous look at what war simulation video games are lacking
Well, below is my open letter to the Real Time Strategy gaming cartel. I want a War Simulation. A real one. I don’t want little cartoon tanks jostling around in a video sandbox chewing down each other’s health meters while a preteen opponent insults my sexuality using every key on his keyboard except the ones with letters. I want an RTS game that will give me a stress headache after an hour and an ulcer after a week. I want to identify experienced players on the street by their Thousand-Yard Stares.
