A bug in Microsoft’s Excel 2007 causes it to do some funny math. Try entering one of the formulas below into a cell, then check the math on your own calculator.

• =5.1*12850
• =850*77.1

The good news is that it is a display issue and not a calculation issue. If you take the result an multiply it by 2 in another cell, you will get the correct answer.
