The anti-colorblind test

Are you color blind? The most common misconception about color blindness is that you can’t see any color. While this can be true in extreme cases, for the most part it is merely a case of colors (such as blue and purple or red and green) looking the same. Most tests ‘eliminate’ people who are color blind using tests that a color blind person cannot see.

Aaron Clauset has come up with a couple of tests that only color blind people can see. The image on top shows a red gradient. There is a hidden image in the gradient that only a color blind person can see. Follow the link for more information, and the to see the hidden image if you are not color blind.

  2. MILITANTPLATYPUS Says:

I am color blind as well. I can almost make out what is in the top image, but I can’t make out the bottom one at all.

  3. eibose Says:

the optometrist tested me with the bottom one when i was younger, i didnt see any of them, and i still dont

  4. unoriginal Says:

I am not color blind and i can make out the bottom part of the top test just fine. I guess you’d have to be color blind to see the whole thing? I dunno.
The bottom one says 45 in case you color blind people were really wondering.

  5. m Says:

odd, I’m not colorblind but for some reason (super crisp monitor?) I can see the 6 in the top.

  6. webnician Says:

I can clearly see the bottom one and the top one, the six, only requires a second’s focus. In fact, it looks a lot like the visual interface used to manually calibrate my monitor. Am I supposed to be color-blind since I can see it? This is confusing. If the image was made using variations in color and I can detect those variation, don’t I have full color vision?

  7. MILITANTPLATYPUS Says:

It may be a high quality monitor issue. I believe the top image was made in photoshop, and a high quality monitor (expecially a calibrated one) may pick up more subtle variations than were intended. It might be interesting to print the image, and see what effect that has.

hahahaha bam i learned to beat my color blindness all i did is move around the settings on my graphics card and bam an orange 45 came on yay me
