Milan Express

The Milan-bound express had been thundering through the darkness at 100mph towards the bridge near Bari, southern Italy.

But luckily the heavy rain had loosened the tracks — causing it to derail and stop just in time.

In just three hours in a limited area we had 161mm of rain - as much as the Apulia region gets in a whole year.
